Candlemas

This year, we got together with friends to enjoy celebrating Candlemas. This is the midway point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. We made crepes for lunch, and then dipped beeswax candles. It was a  lovely way to spend a chilly winter's day. Our Little Nature Nest blog has some nice suggestions for the holiday.The Parenting Passageway also has wonderful information. I enjoy celebrating the progression through the darkness of winter, onward toward the longer days of spring and summer!

If Candlemas Day be fair and bright,
Winter will have another flight;
But if it be dark with clouds and rain,
    Winter is gone, and will not come again.

  6. This is something I'd very much like us to do next year. We ended up decorating candles we already had with decorating wax.
    Thanks for sharing--I'll have to be braver with the kids next year!
