This year, we got together with friends to enjoy celebrating Candlemas. This is the midway point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. We made crepes for lunch, and then dipped beeswax candles. It was a lovely way to spend a chilly winter's day. Our Little Nature Nest blog has some nice suggestions for the holiday.The Parenting Passageway also has wonderful information. I enjoy celebrating the progression through the darkness of winter, onward toward the longer days of spring and summer!
If Candlemas Day be fair and bright,
Winter will have another flight;
But if it be dark with clouds and rain,
Winter is gone, and will not come again.
Happy Candlemas! I think that us N Carolinians might be in for more winter. ;)
ReplyDeleteThey turned out just lovely! We did candle dipping in Dec for gifts and it was one of my girls favorite activities. Always enjoy your gorgeous photos, as well!
ReplyDeleteyay! we made snow candles....melted down old candle stubs and crayons and then poured them into a little hole in the snow, making a new candle. we haven't dipped candles yet. exciting to give that a go soon!

This is something I'd very much like us to do next year. We ended up decorating candles we already had with decorating wax.
